Artist’s Statement

My work is concerned with found objects and artefacts and the way that they are eroded and reshaped by time and  human intervention. Things created by humanity reflect its relationship to  the environment, sharing a vital materiality with their human creators. The objects develop a visual narrative which describes the instability of our environment and the tenuous balance between sustainability and destruction. Over time things change, yet time also creates.

The printed works seek to explore how new narratives and meanings can be revealed from damaged objects, demonstrating both their frailty and insubstantial nature. Interactions between artist, viewer and objects offers them the possibility of renewal into new forms which hint at a differing timescale and enables them to be transformed to experience different forces and new lives.
